A record is one row of an object: a company, a person, a deal or a custom object entry. Reads return its field values in data, keyed by field name.

Create

Send field values at the top level of the body, and the ids of records to link in relationships:
  • Required fields must be included.
  • Keys that are not fields you may edit are dropped without an error.
  • A company with a website, or a person with an email, that already exists answers 409 CONFLICT. Look the record up first if your source may send duplicates.

Update

Send only the fields you want to change, inside data. Fields you leave out keep their values. Send null to clear one.
Changes fire <type>.updated and <type>.attribute_updated events. Workers subscribed to those events can act on the change.

Value shapes

The Create a record page has the full table, including users, images, files and relationships. relationships connects records: a person to their company, a deal to its company and contacts. Linking is two-way: the other record gets a link back.
  • On create, relationships is an array of record ids.
  • On update, ids in data.relationships are added. Existing links are never removed by an update.
  • To remove links, call DELETE /v1/platform/records/{id}/relationships.
Notes and tasks link to records the same way, with { objectId, schemaId, objectType } entries.
